Tonight at 10 p.m. EDT, Showtime is live from the Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif., with the first semifinal bout in the Super Six World Boxing Classic. Tonight's winner will go on to the finals later this year, to face the winner of the June 4 bout between Carl Froch and Glen Johnson.
The broadcast will begin with a replay of last Saturday's Manny Pacquiao vs Shane Mosley fight, so you might want to pick up a 5 Hour Energy shot if you're not a night owl. Or if you are.
Ward (23-0, 13 KO) is the heavy favorite against Abraham (32-2, 26 KO), who has lost his last two tournament fights to Andre Dirrell and Carl Froch. Abraham did win his last fight, a controversial tune-up against Stjepan Bozic in February.
Since the fight is outdoors, weather could be a factor this evening. Given that Ward and Abraham will probably hit the ring at 11 p.m. EDT or so (8 p.m. local time in Carson), it could be quite cool. It's supposed to be about 60 degrees in Carson, but a 0% chance of precipitation, supposedly, with about 70% humidity and 10mph winds.
Join us tonight for live, round-by-round updates of the main event, with immediate post-fight analysis.
