In his ongoing "Mayweather After Dark" series at FightHype, Floyd Mayweather Jr. shows off what he claims are the ring robe and boots he had made for a fight with Manny Pacquiao, which he again claims he thought was a done deal.
I have a few thoughts on this whole Mayweather internet video series, so indulge me.
- It's nice that he's talking, at least. I know many of you "don't care," but a lot of people do, and he's obliging his crazy fans with conspiracy theories and all that.
- Yes, FightHype is endorsed by Mayweather because they're very Mayweather-friendly. And there's a good reason to be Mayweather-friendly. They're now the only outlet he's speaking to. That's quite a deal for them.
- That said, the part where he gives away stuff to the camera man and the dude's all, "oh wow" and the like, is probably a bit much. I mean there comes a point where you're not showing bias or favoritism but you're straight up shilling. They've probably passed it, but I guess they could do some cool giveaways.
- THAT said, I keep watching the videos, so I guess they're doing something right. Or doing something so wrong that I can't stop, like a car crash.
For those who don't want to go watch the video, the motif was black and orange and there seems to be nothing particularly sensational about it. Just a standard ring robe and boots in black and orange. Kind of tasteful, really. Not over the top.
Meanwhile, Pacquiao's next fight is set for November 12 against Juan Manuel Marquez, while Mayweather's next internet video is set for soon, I guess.
