Amir Khan and Zab Judah are quickly turning up the heat on a possible July 23 fight, possibly giving fuel to making the fight happen with some good trash talk.
Recently, Judah called Khan a "step down" for him, citing Khan's relative inexperience and youth, and that got the Brit's attention. Khan told Boxing Futures that Judah is a "runner":
"Judah is a runner like [Paul] McCloskey. I don’t want to fight another runner; I want to fight a guy who comes to fight. Why am I going to fight a guy who’s going to run all the way through the fight and not want to get hit? This is boxing, it’s not about running away like McCloskey."
The complaint honestly seems a bit strange, since Judah's a lot of things but I wouldn't exactly think of him as a runner. And Judah, of course, doesn't think of himself that way. He ripped back at Khan:
"Sometimes in life people create images in their minds of people so they can get over their fear of them. I have never been a runner! Check my track record. What a way to wake up, with a kid trying to get a replacement fight and calling me a runner, boy you must have bumped your monkey f***ing head."
Judah now sounds a lot more ready to fight Khan, challenging him to sign a contract. Khan says he feels a fight with Robert Guerrero would be better for him, but either way it's getting about time for Khan to fight someone, so hopefully we'll find out soon who that is.
