Andy Lee Wants Another Crack at Brian Vera
Both Andy Lee and Brian Vera have been winners so far in 2011, and could meet up again sometime this year. In 2008, Vera upset then-undefeated and highly-touted Lee on Friday Night Fights. Lee (26-1, 19 KO) hasn't lost since, and on Thursday topped Alex Bunema in the Chicagoland area. Vera (18-5, 11 KO) has gone just 2-4 since beating Lee, but he's well-known as an all-action fighter and faces nothing but solid opposition.
Lee, who could be in line for his first major title shot soon, still wants revenge:
"That's the fight I want first, I want revenge and then we'll concentrate on a World title," said Lee.
Lee vs Vera II has been discussed plenty over the last couple of years, but has never quite come off. Vera has recently been rumored as the next opponent for Peter Manfredo Jr.
Ray Edwards Fights Tonight
Ugh, this guy makes Tom Zbikowski look like Manny Pacquiao. From TMZ:
Minnesota Vikings stud Ray Edwards is so serious about his pro boxing debut tomorrow night ... he's sworn off sex for the past 6 weeks so he can save his stamina for the ring!!!
6'5", 270 lb Edwards is scheduled to fight TJ Gibson at the Grand Casino in Minnesota ... and he isn't taking any chances -- telling TMZ, "I have not had sex in the past six weeks and will not until after the fight."
Edwards explains, "No real boxer should have sex before a fight ... it affects your legs."
Edwards and his loony trainer take to the ring on Friday night in Minnesota against a guy who isn't a professional boxer, so I guess that makes two of them. They're also seriously trying to charge $600 for certain tickets to this nonsense, with Edwards getting $5,000 and half of the gate.
But don't forget! He's a mix of Ali and Tyson and Mayweather. He's the greatest boxer of all time.
