Wild Card fighters Julio Cesar Chavez Jr and Vanes Martirosyan are both fighting on June 4 at the Staples Center, with Chavez in the HBO main event against Sebastian Zbik, while Martirosyan is off television against Saul Roman. The two hooked up in sparring at the Wild Card recently, and here's the video, since I know some of you are interested in sparring videos:
I also don't mean to dismiss sparring video, which it might have sounded like I was doing. It's just that I take sparring video for what it is -- video of sparring. It's not a fight, which some dolts seem to believe. And the weird consensus is that Chavez is getting killed in there, but really it comes off as good work from both. The further along it gets, I think both of these guys have become a bit underrated. Chavez is not the kid he was a few years ago, and Martirosyan has gone from blue chipper (in some circles) to perceived mediocrity without even having the chance to prove himself against a top fighter.
