After a lot of rumors flying around in recent weeks and months about Floyd Mayweather Jr. returning to the ring, the man himself spoke to FightHype.com's Ben Thompson, and made something very clear: Don't believe the hype.

Mayweather says:

  • He's not fighting Paul Spadafora (he says he didn't even know Spadafora was still fighting)
  • He's not going to confirm (or deny, really) any return this summer
  • No matter what Roger Mayweather says, Floyd says he's only spoken to Roger a few times in the last year

There was no talk of Floyd fighting at Cowboys Stadium, as Roger Mayweather says has been in the works. Roger said that Mayweather and Cowboys owner Jerry Jones have been discussing a summer fight for the mega stadium, where Manny Pacquiao fought twice last year, but Mayweather says that everything printed is "nothing but lies."

Take, of course, with a grain of salt, as you must do with everything any of the Mayweathers say, but this is from Money Mayweather himself, not his uncle/trainer, not a yes-man, not a mysterious rumor floating in the wind.

As for Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao, Floyd made the usual statements. Make of them what you wish.
