Pacquiao vs Mosley Early Results: Rodel Mayol and Jose Benavidez Jr. Win on Undercard

Scott Christ is the managing editor of Bad Left Hook and has been covering boxing for SB Nation since 2006.

Earlier tonight before the Showtime pay-per-view went live for the Pacquiao vs Mosley card, undercard fighters took to the ring for some early action at the MGM Grand. Two fights (and some change) were shown live on Showtime Extreme. Here are the early results.

Rodel Mayol MD-10 Javier Gallo

Only the first few rounds of this made it onto the Showtime Extreme telecast, but Mayol (28-5-2, 21 KO) came away with a majority decision over Javier Gallo (17-4-1, 9 KO). Mayol won on scores of 98-92 (twice) and 95-95. I gave Gallo the first two rounds, but then it cut away for interviews with Bob Arum and Ines Sainz as the show was running out of time.

Jose Benavidez Jr. TKO-5 James Hope

Hope (6-8-1, 4 KO) gave Benavidez (11-0, 10 KO) some tough looks, but showboating got under the skin of Benavidez and he turned up the heat in a big way. Referee Vic Drakulich stepped in in the fifth round of what had become a one-sided fight.

Pier Olivier Cote TKO-4 Aris Ambriz

Cote (16-0, 11 KO) was very impressive here, banging out Ambriz (15-2-1, 8 KO) in the fourth when referee Tony Weeks stepped in.

Also: Karl Dargan UD-6 Randy Arrellin
