With Floyd Mayweather Jr insisting that Amir Khan will have to beat Jessie Vargas to get a shot at Floyd in 2012, Khan has responded as you might expect he would:
"Never heard of Jessie Vargas until Floyd Mayweather mentioned that I have to fight him. He looks good, yes, but only has 16 fights. He's a prospect and I'm a unified world champion. If Jessie Vargas fights and gets past Marcos Maidana - then I'll fight him. Like Floyd said - 'you have to earn it.'"
Vargas (16-0, 9 KO) faces Josesito Lopez on the Mayweather vs Ortiz undercard, which is a fight that the Mayweather Promotions prospect shouldn't look past, as Lopez is a tough customer and has as much to gain as Vargas does, really.
The idea that Khan needs to fight Jessie Vargas is silly, but Khan has proposed a fine scenario in return: When Vargas beats a real contender, Khan will fight him then.
Khan also takes shots at Maidana and Timothy Bradley, calling Bradley a "bitch" a few times and talking about Maidana ducking fights. First off, Khan shouldn't call people "bitch." It just doesn't work for him. I don't know why, exactly, but it doesn't. Second, Khan shouldn't ever accuse Maidana of ducking a rematch with Victor Ortiz, when we're talking about a guy who won't fight Breidis Prescott again.
