Eric Gomez, the matchmaker for Golden Boy Promotions, tweeted a photo earlier this evening of Humberto Soto at the Golden Boy offices, and it sure looks like those are contracts in front of him at the table:
Soto (56-7-2, 33 KO) recently moved up to the 140-pound division in Mexico, getting an early stoppage win over Jose Alfaro on September 3, due to a bad clash of heads. Soto, who has held titles at 130 and 135 pounds (and an interim belt at 126), parted ways with Top Rank earlier this year by ducking out of a rematch with Urbano Antillon, which was scheduled for the Pacquiao vs Mosley pay-per-view on May 7.
The 31-year-old Soto has said in the recent past that he'd only want to sign with Golden Boy Promotions if a fight with Mexican legend Erik Morales could be guaranteed. Morales fights on Saturday night against Pablo Cesar Cano as part of the Mayweather vs Ortiz show at the MGM Grand, live on HBO pay-per-view, and if he wins, he would pick up the vacant WBC junior welterweight title, which is the belt Soto wants to target.
