One of the featured bouts on tomorrow's Mayweather vs Ortiz undercard will come via satellite on HBO pay-per-view, as Saul "Canelo" Alvarez defends his WBC junior middleweight title against Alfonso Gomez at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. It's an interesting move that gives Golden Boy a second live gate in Los Angeles, but may have affected some of the ticket sales in Las Vegas, and may cut the pay-per-view numbers just a little bit if enough people do show up at the Staples Center.
Today, the fighters weighed in in Los Angeles, a couple of hours before the Vegas fighters are set to hit the scales.
Alvarez (37-0-1, 27 KO) weighed in at 153.6 pounds for the 154-pound fight, with Gomez (23-4-2, 12 KO) at 152.6. Gomez is coming up from welterweight for this bout, but has fought at 154 in the past, and even a bit higher when he was on "The Contender" in 2004.
