The first three rounds of tonight's main event were interesting. And then it went insane.

Charging offensively with Floyd on the ropes, Victor Ortiz jumped at Floyd Mayweather Jr with a violent, completely intentional headbutt. After being separated by referee Joe Cortez, Ortiz went over to apologize to Mayweather. When the fight was restarted, Ortiz again came to hug Mayweather.

Not feeling charitable, Mayweather socked Ortiz with a left hook, followed by a right hand on a completely defenseless Ortiz, who hit the mat and was unable to get up by the count of ten.

The question is whether or not Joe Cortez, who was looking at the judges at the time, had officially restarted the fight. Either way, Cortez counted, and Mayweather knocked him out in the fourth round. On replays, it did not appear the fight had been restarted.

Mayweather (42-0, 26 KO) will be criticized heavily for sure. But so will Ortiz (29-3-2, 22 KO), whose headbutt was video game-esque and truly ridiculous.

After the fight, Mayweather screamed at a questioning Larry Merchant, who shoved Mayweather and said he "wished he was 50 years younger." Merchant later essentially apologized for his behavior.

I apologize for this being a rambling, somewhat incoherent recap, but I've never seen anything quite like this.
