Promoter Lou DiBella, who doesn't have a dog in the race, says that Floyd Mayweather Jr would "easily" defeat Manny Pacquiao if the two ever fought. From David "Los Gatos" Rosenberg:
"It’s not even a fight. ... Pacquiao won't hit him in the ass. ... I think Floyd picks him apart. I’m not taking anything away from Pacquiao’s greatness. But Arum said, ‘Pacquiao wins and it’s a joke.’ I’m going the other way. Mayweather wins and I’ll book Bob’s bet."
This is one of the things I love about the Pacquiao vs Mayweather fight on paper -- people have legitimately strong, seemingly hard-wired opinions of who would win, and frankly outside of taking a major risk going up in weight against Sergio Martinez, it seems like nobody believes that anyone else is much threat for either fighter.
Some believe Mayweather's superior defense, technique, and great counter-punching makes him the serious favorite. Some people believe Pacquiao's mastery of angles, fiery offense, and punching power give him an edge over Mayweather. As I've said before, neither has ever had to deal with the sort of fighter that the other man is.
Some people think the fight will only disappoint. I disagree. I think it's a magnificent style clash, one of truly epic proportions.
