BoxingScene.com reports that would-be junior middleweight contender Vanes Martirosyan will take yet another stay-busy/tune-up/whatever fight on the Chavez vs Rubio undercard on February 4 in San Antonio.
Martirosyan (31-0, 19 KO) will be facing 41-year-old Troy Lowry (28-11, 17 KO) of Minnesota.
Martirosyan, 25, has made a lot of media noise over the last couple of years about fighting a top opponent, but it's ust noise. Martirosyan and his handlers are making no active attempt to do anything but go from the outhouse to the penthouse in one fight, so to speak. I'm sure they would take a fight with Canelo Alvarez. But why would he get one?
In the meantime, Martirosyan continues to do nothing to increase his position.
Lowry was last seen on September 16 in South Bend, on the Mike Lee card that was held at Notre Dame. Lowry flattened unbeaten club circuit fighter Travis Loveless in that one, snapping a six-fight skid. Lowry is just 4-10 in his last 14 fights.
