Manny Pacquiao is currently the WBO welterweight champion, a belt he earned from beating Miguel Angel Cotto in 2009. I would assume that Manny Pacquiao and Top Rank have to give the WBO some heads up about whom Manny is fighting next. Here's yet another piece of evidence showing that Manny Pacquiao isn't fighting Floyd Mayweather in May. The WBO president Francisco Varcarcel made a comment to Miguel Rivera reporting from Boxing Scene.
"I was told by Bob Arum that Pacquiao would fight in June, not in May."
This is a fairly bold statement from the WBO president but nothing that can be classified as definitive. Unless it's a statement from either Top Rank or Manny Pacquiao, then I wouldn't put too much stock in any statement about Manny's next fight. Sure, Manny will probably want to defend the WBO belt, but I can't imagine that Bob Arum would be giving the WBO such sensitive information. You may hate Bob Arum but he's not dumb enough to let incredibly sensitive information to leak this easily. However, this could just be a misunderstanding. Maybe Bob told the WBO president that Manny would fight in June before the whole Floyd prison sentence delay and subsequent twitter nonsense.

On the other hand, this may be yet another hint that Manny and Floyd are not fighting each other. Manny is going to fight some Top Rank fighter in June and Floyd is going to fight Saul Alvarez on May 5 at the MGM Grand. We all should just accept these fights as certainties and be pleasantly surprised if anything else happens. Floyd and Manny is not happening in May and it is not happening in November. Boxing will continue to have great fights and great rivalries. Life moves on, etc.
