After a couple of scrapped dates, today is the day we'll finally see hyped and powerful British heavyweight prospect David Price take on rugged veteran John McDermott in an eliminator for a shot at Tyson Fury's British heavyweight title. Bad Left Hook will have live, round-by-round coverage this afternoon.
Fight time: 3:00 p.m. EST
Location: Olympia - Liverpool, England
TV channel: Sky Sports 1 (United Kingdom)
Odds: Price is the heavy favorite, between -700 and -800, with McDermott an underdog between +450 and +550.
Undercard: There's nothing of any real interest on the undercard here. Most notable is a fight between Joe Ainscough (8-3-1, 1 KO) and Carl Dilks (15-4, 5 KO).
Price (11-0, 9 KO) has looked nearly unstoppable in his last few fights, including easy wins over Raphael Butler (TKO-1) and Tom Dallas (TKO-2), the latter another British heavyweight prospect.
But there is some serious concern over his chin, thanks to his getting banged around somewhat in the amateur ranks. If the concern is to be realized in the pros, McDermott (26-7, 17 KO) does have enough grit and power to be a problem. The question from McDermott's side is whether the 31-year-old vet can hold up to Price's thudding knockout power.
