Today at 6 pm ET from Carson, California, we'll have a live stream of the weigh-ins for tomorrow night's HBO Boxing After Dark doubleheader.
In the main event, Nonito Donaire and Toshiaki Nishioka meet in a 122-pound title fight, with Donaire's WBO and IBF belts on the line, as well as the vacant WBC "diamond" title, and the vacant Ring Magazine title, and the vacant TBRB-recognized world title, and probably some other stuff, too. It's universally recognized as 1 vs 2 at super bantamweight.
The co-feature will pit Brandon Rios against Mike Alvarado in a junior welterweight fight that has had boxing fans excited since it was signed. The slugfest-in-waiting does have a little weigh-in drama, too, as Rios has missed weight for his last two fights, though those had a 135-pound limit, not the 140 for this fight. We'll see if Rios can go 1-for-3 -- in baseball, this is good.
