Promoter Frank Maloney was mostly happy today after his fighter David Price thrashed Audley Harrison in about 80 seconds in Liverpool, and announced directly after that Price (14-0, 12 KO) would be facing veteran Matt Skelton (28-6, 23 KO) in his next fight.
While Price against the 45-year-old Skelton might not get too many people all that excited outside of very big David Price fans, Maloney also says there's a lot of money on the table for Tyson Fury, should Fury want to make the fight.
Maloney on David Price vs Tyson Fury:
"I've been watching Twitter and I've been watching a fighter who calls himself a heavyweight. I think his name is Chicken Fury. He's challenging David Price on Twitter and saying things on Twitter. Stop using Twitter and hiding behind a computer. If you really want a fight, there's £500,000 on the table, we will make that fight. And the best man will win.
"Mr. Fury, if you are really man and a fighter, get (Mick) Hennessy to phone me up, and let's see what happens."
Fury had his own words for Price, Maloney, and Tony Bellew, during James DeGale's fight on Channel 5. Will Price-Fury happen? Someday, as I said then, it probably will. But it's definitely not next, and it's probably not close.
