I don't always feel particularly motivated to post GIFs of every little thing that happens in a boxing ring, but this past weekend saw David Lemieux show off his thunderous punching power yet again.
Lemieux scored a knockdown toward the end of the first round which Alvaro Gaona was able to get up from. However, as the two engaged again, Lemieux would land a massive left hook to the chin that dropped Gaona. Gaona was out cold, his body stiff and in that always frightening spasm.
It was scary to watch when it happened, but all reports are that Gaona is doing fine since the KO.
Here it is:
With the win, Lemieux is now on a two fight win streak after having been stopped in 7 against Marco Antonio Rubio in April of last year and then dropping a majority decision to Joachim Alcine last December.
He said before the Gaona fight that he watched guys like Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., Sergio Martinez and Matthew Macklin and want to be fighting at that level as soon as possible. His limitations will probably prevent that from happening, but with power like he has, he's never really out of a fight and it'll be fun to watch him try to get there.
