Brandon Rios' trainer Robert Garcia says he's definitely interested in matching the wrecking ball brawler with Manny Pacquiao next year, which is a fight that promoter Bob Arum is already starting to hype up.
From Chris Robinson:
"It’s something that of course interests us. Right now, the way he performed, there’s no doubt that fight will sell, there’s no doubt that people will know Brandon has a chance. But that’s why Brandon has Cameron Dunkin. Cameron Dunkin is the best manager in this business and Cameron Dunkin will decide what’s next for Brandon. Whatever he comes and offers, Brandon never says no. It could be Brandon against Alvarado again, it could be Brandon against Joe Blow and Brandon would take it. It could be against Pacquiao; Brandon’s ready for whoever."
Rios (31-0-1, 23 KO) stopped Mike Alvarado in a leading Fight of the Year candidate on Saturday night, and the buzz is big about that fight, Rios' performance, and a possible Pacquiao-Rios fight. One figures it hinges on Pacquiao beating Juan Manuel Marquez when they meet for a fourth time on December 8, but it might not. If Pacquiao lost, he'd probably want to fight again, having just extended his Top Rank contract through 2014, and Rios would be right there as a top candidate.
As Arum says, fight fans would go in expecting action. It's a fight that probably sells itself.
