Garcia vs Morales II: Erik Morales tests positive for clenbuterol, claims contamination

Erik Morales' 'irregular' A sample USADA drug test came back positive for trace amounts of clenbuterol, known to be a drug that assists in weight loss.

BoxingScene.com is reporting that Erik Morales' "irregular" A sample test from USADA came up with trace amounts of clenbuterol, which is not a steroid, but is known as a drug that can help with weight loss.

Morales is claiming he tested positive for the drug due to contaminated meat eaten in Mexico, which may be a valid theory, but given Morales' failure to make weight for his March fight with Danny Garcia, the fighter he was set to rematch on Saturday, it's still going to be hard to convince some people that this was an accident.

Morales, however, expects that the B sample of his test will be clean, and that the Saturday night Showtime main event will go on as scheduled.

A decision will be made on Friday, I'm assuming in the morning or early afternoon hours, before the scheduled weigh-in for the event in Brooklyn. We'll have more on the story later today.
