Miguel Cotto vs Austin Trout: Showtime trailer video for Dec. 1 fight

Miguel Cotto will face Austin Trout on December 1 at Madison Square Garden, live on Showtime.

Miguel Cotto (37-3, 30 KO) will challenge Austin Trout (25-0, 14 KO) for Trout's WBA junior middleweight title on December 1 at Madison Square Garden, televised by Showtime, as the network and Golden Boy Promotions continue to pump out noteworthy cards at a pretty amazing rate.

Cotto, 31, will be going for the fifth world title of his great career, while the 27-year-old Trout is looking to hang on to his first belt a little longer, and make a big name for himself in the process. A win here from Cotto, who is going to be a lot smaller than Trout, would be very, very solid for his resume, I'd say, while a Trout upset could launch him into the money game at 154 pounds. Both have a ton to gain, and plenty to lose. There are real stakes in this fight.

No word yet on the undercard fights, but last I knew, Golden Boy was planning a televised tripleheader for the show. It's unlikely there will be anything too big scheduled (we'd have known by now), but there could be some fine prospect fights, perhaps. There's plenty to do with these type shows than load them up with world title fights and the like, especially when your headline man is a Miguel Cotto. Getting some kids exposure on his show wouldn't hurt at all.
