BoxingScene.com reports that the rumors have been confirmed, and Showtime has bought the U.S. TV rights to Ricky Hatton's comeback fight on November 24 in Manchester, England.
The network will air Hatton vs Vyacheslav Senchenko live in the afternoon that day, with a replay that night. The replay would go up against Golden Boy's HBO show, featuring Andre Berto vs Robert Guerrero in the main event, but that's only a concern for people who can't watch both live. Given that it's a Saturday, that's a small potential audience.
Hatton (45-2, 34 KO) hasn't fought since 2009, when he lost to Manny Pacquiao via violent second round knockout. His comeback has stirred up a ton of fan interest in the UK, and plenty in the US considering he's not an American fighter. The event's undercard has also been loaded up for what is expected to be a Primetime PPV in the UK.
Paulie Malignaggi will work the booth for Showtime, strengthening the speculation or even expectation that a Hatton-Malignaggi rematch will be next should Hatton beat Senchenko.
