Light heavyweight contender Tony Bellew will be back on November 17, when he features on the Carl Froch-Yusaf Mack undercard in Nottingham, and today his opponent was announced. Terence Dooley reports that Bellew will face Argentina's Roberto Bolonti.
Bolonti (30-1, 19 KO) has fought at home over his entire career, and hasn't faced much by way of name competition since turning pro in 2005. The 33-year-old last fought on September 22, knocking out veteran Jose Alberto Clavero in eight rounds.
Bellew (18-1, 12 KO) is trying to earn his way into a second world title shot, and is staying busy on paper here. His last fight came on September 8, when he rather easily defeated Edison Miranda in London.
Now with Matchroom, the 29-year-old Bellew won't be getting another crack at rival Nathan Cleverly any time soon, as Cleverly is with Frank Warren, but he's trying to work his way up the WBC rankings, and currently holds their "International Silver light heavyweight title." Chad Dawson, of course, is currently the WBC champion.
