Ronnie Nathanielsz reports that Top Rank's Bob Arum is saying a December 15 fight between Nonito Donaire and Jorge Arce is a "done deal," with the bout to take place at the Toyota Center in Houston.
Donaire (30-1, 19 KO) and Arce (61-6-2, 46 KO) have negotiated for a fight a few times before, and had seemingly hit the same snags this time, with Donaire claiming Arce wanted too much money for the fight to take place at its original target destination, Mexico City. But with the talks switching over to Houston, it appears the fight has finally been made.
At this point, even though I don't think this is going to be competitive in the ring, with Arce tailor-made for Donaire, I'm sort of relieved it's just going to happen. Arum has wanted it for a few years now, and better now than even later in the game for Arce.
HBO will most likely televise the fight, and have it paired with the replay of the Pacquiao-Marquez IV PPV main event from December 8.
