The December 15 fight between Amir Khan and lightweight prospect Carlos Molina is headed to the Los Angeles Sports Arena, according to RingTV.com, where it will headline a big boxing show from Golden Boy, Showtime, and CBS.
Golden Boy will run one of their "Night of the Olympians" shows on CBS (in the early evening, oddly enough), following an NCAA basketball game, which will then transition into undercard fights on Showtime Extreme, and finally, the main bouts will air on Showtime, including Khan-Molina.
Heavyweight prospect Deontay Wilder will also be part of the show. It's an ambitious production and something unique, and Showtime has specialized in "unique" this year, airing four-fight shows regularly on their network, plus undercard fights beforehand on Showtime Extreme, giving a lot of fights and a lot of fighters exposure. It's been a success so far, I'd say, and a very welcome change. So I expect the addition of the CBS show to be solid, too -- and definitely something cool for diehard fight fans.
