Al Bernstein, Showtime Sports
"From the opening bell, Abner Mares attacked Anselmo Moreno, trying to bully the clever boxer and take him off his game. And it worked for the most part early in this fight, over the initial rounds. And then in round five, Mares' power came to life. Good body punching and then some excellent straight right hands would send Moreno to the canvas for the first time in Moreno's career as either an amateur or a pro.
"Moreno had some good moments in the middle rounds, but then in round 11, a point was deducted from Moreno after several warnings for pulling the head down of Abner Mares.
"And so Abner Mares retains his super bantamweight title with a unanimous decision over Anselmo Moreno."
