Adrien Broner and Antonio DeMarco both weighed in at 134½ pounds for tomorrow night's HBO main event from Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, a half-pound under the limit. DeMarco's WBC lightweight title will be on the line.
Broner (24-0, 20 KO) failed to make weight for his last fight at super featherweight, and his team expressed some joy over his success today, which always comes off a little weird when they seem that happy, but I suppose the doubters out there had a perfectly legitimate stance, too, so I guess they proved the haters wrong or whatever. The 23-year-old from Cincinnati looked in great physical condition, and DeMarco (28-2-1, 21 KO) looked like he usually does, so all in all, the fight is shaping up to be as good as it can be.
In the HBO co-feature, heavyweights Seth "Mayhem" Mitchell and Johnathon Banks will do battle in a 10-round bout. Mitchell (25-0-1, 19 KO) came in at 242 pounds, which is par for the course on his end, while ex-cruiserweight Banks (28-1-1, 18 KO) weighed in at 218½, his lightest weight since 2009.
