Former British amateur standout Kal Yafai ended the night's opening televised fight early on the Froch vs Mack undercard, improving to 5-0 (4 KO) with a 52-second body shot knockout of Italy's Pio Antonio Nettuno.
Yafai, 23, said after the fight he was a bit disappointed to not get more work in, but his power affected Nettuno on a body shot before that, and a few more shots to the midsection later, it was all over.
Promoter Eddie Hearn spoke after the fight of getting Yafai back in three weeks, then fast-tracking him toward domestic titles and even a world title shot, speaking glowingly of his power. Yafai, a bantamweight, may have the talent to fast-track, but there are still plenty of steps to go.
The shot was placed perfectly under the elbow, as Nettuno was trying to turn off the ropes. Nettuno made a show of getting up at the end of the count, but he was done.
Our live coverage of the "True Brit" show continues here, with Scotty Cardle up next, followed by Bellew vs Bolonti, and then the main event.
