Pacquiao vs Marquez IV: Kenny Bayless honored to draw referee assignment

Veteran referee Kenny Bayless says he's 'honored' to be chosen to be the third man in the ring with Manny Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez on December 8, and expects another great fight between the two.

Nevada referee Kenny Bayless tells Chris Robinson that he's "honored" to be chosen as the referee for Pacquiao vs Marquez IV on December 8 in Las Vegas, and expects another great fight between the two Hall of Fame-bound greats.

"This is such a good matchup because both of them are warriors. They both come to fight. Manny Pacquiao, you don’t have to look for him in the ring, he’s going to be right in front of you. And the same thing goes for Marquez; he’s going to be standing right in front of you."

Bayless refereed the second Pacquiao-Marquez fight back in 2008, and remembers it as an "electrifying night." As Kory noted when this announcement was made by the commission, Bayless is a terrific choice as always, as he's truly one of the very best referees in the business. Without meaning to totally disrespect the other Nevada referees, in my mind, the only two choices for this fight were Bayless and Tony Weeks, another of the elite officials. As much as Bayless is honored to get the call, I think boxing fans should be honored to have him around for fights of this magnitude.
