Pacquiao vs Marquez IV: Yuriorkis Gamboa to face Michael Farenas on undercard

Cuban sensation Yuriorkis Gamboa is officially set to return to the ring on December 8, as he'll face Michael Farenas on the Pacquiao vs Marquez IV undercard in Las Vegas.

Yuriorkis Gamboa lost his original opponent, but hasn't lost his spot on the Pacquiao vs Marquez IV undercard on December 8. Gamboa, originally slated to face Miguel Beltran Jr, will now take on Michael Farenas, according to ESPN.com.

Gamboa (21-0, 16 KO) is now being promoted by 50 Cent after a falling-out with Top Rank earlier this year, somewhat humorously winding up right back on a Top Rank show, as 50 is now looking their direction to help get his promotional career started in boxing. So in the end, Top Rank got the money from Gamboa being bought out, and they bring him right back on one of their shows. Go figure.

The Cuban dynamo, who turns 31 on December 23, won't be defending the featherweight title he's held since 2009. Farenas (34-3-4, 26 KO) is a capable fighter, a 28-year-old Filipino who last fought on July 16, challenging Takashi Uchiyama for the WBA 130-pound title. That fight ended in a technical draw in the third round.

Also featured on the HBO pay-per-view undercard will be an IBF lightweight title fight between Miguel Vazquez and Mercito Gesta, as well as featherweight prospect and contender Javier Fortuna taking on Snooki Boxing's Patrick Hyland. Bob Arum, 50 Cent, and Snooki teaming up. What a time to be alive.
