Tonight, starting at 7:30 pm EST on Pursuit Channel and Bounce TV, Joan Guzman faces Khabib Allakhverdiev in the main event from the BB&T Center in Sunrise, Florida, with the vacant WBA "regular" junior welterweight title on the line, as well as Allakhverdiev's IBO title.
Guzman (33-0-1, 20 KO) is basically in his second career, still officially undefeated and a talented fighter. Allakhverdiev (17-0, 8 KO) holds recent wins over Nate Campbell, Ignacio Mendoza, and Kaizer Mabuza, and represents a big step up for Guzman from the club fighters he has recently faced.
For both fighters, this is a chance to really get into the race in one of boxing's best, deepest, and most exciting weight classes.
U.S. viewers with DirecTV can watch Pursuit Channel on channel 604, while Dish Network carries it on channel 240. Pursuit Channel can be streamed live online at PursuitChannel.com, as well, and registration is free.
Also on the broadcast, junior middleweight prospect Domonique Dolton (12-0, 7 KO) will face veteran Richard Gutierrez (26-10-1, 16 KO). Gutierrez has lost six straight, and has gone 5-10-1 in his last 16, but he generally takes guys deep, and that's his job tonight.
