Miguel Cotto weighed in at 153.6 pounds, with Austin Trout at the division limit of 154 (after dropping trou and weighing in a second time), for tomorrow night's WBA junior middleweight title fight at Madison Square Garden, which will air live on Showtime.
Cotto (37-3, 30 KO) is the favorite in the bout, but the undefeated Trout (25-0, 14 KO) is the defending titleholder, and many do see this as a potential big-time trap fight for the Puerto Rican star, who faces a taller, younger, fresher, southpaw who has never lost, and is the man fighting at his natural weight.
Of the six BLH staffers who made their picks earlier, two went ahead and called for the Trout upset tomorrow night. It wouldn't be the true Upset of the Year if it happened, but it would probably be the upset that most rocks the boxing world in 2012 if it were to happen. Cotto is a legitimate star fighter, and a loss to Trout would be huge news at 154 pounds, or even at 160, potentially.
BLH will have live coverage tomorrow starting at 9 pm EST, and more on Cotto-Trout leading up to the fights.
