Abner Mares faces Anselmo Moreno tomorrow night on Showtime from the Staples Center in Los Angeles, and today at 3 pm ET and 12 pm PT, we'll have the weigh-in event streaming live right on the site, thanks to Showtime Sports and UStream.
Mares (24-0-1, 13 KO) will be defending his WBC super bantamweight title against the crafty and talented Moreno (33-1-1, 12 KO), who currently holds the WBA bantamweight title and is moving up in weight, as Mares did earlier this year. Golden Boy has sort of built to this fight for about a year, showcasing the two fighters on the same cards on December 3, 2011, and April 21 of this year.
There's also a notable undercard to talk about, as we'll see two more world title fights and the return of one of boxing's most ferocious and exciting battlers.
Leo Santa Cruz will defend his IBF bantamweight title in the main co-feature against Victor Zaleta, while Nathan Cleverly will defend the WBO light heavyweight title against Shawn Hawk. That fight will air on Showtime Extreme, as will a showcase bout for junior welterweight prospect Antonio Orozco.
And 154-pound brawler and contender Alfredo Angulo will be back in the ring for the first time this year, returning against Raul Casarez in the Showtime opener.
