Prospect Ronny Rios and former super bantamweight titlist Rico Ramos will meet for the NABF featherweight title on January 11, headlining a ShoBox doubleheader from the Fantasy Springs in Indio, California.
Rios (19-0, 9 KO) last fought on July 28 at the same venue, beating veteran David Rodela via ninth round TKO. The 22-year-old Espinoza Boxing prospect has floated between 126 and 130 for most of his pro career, and will now look to settle in at featherweight and make his move.
Ramos (21-1, 11 KO) hasn't fought since June, when he beat Efrain Esquivas by eight-round majority decision, in what was a very exciting fight. Prior to that, he was taken apart by Guillermo Rigondeaux in January, which cost him the WBA 122-pound title he'd won from Akifumi Shimoda in 2011.
In the night's co-feature, 20-year-old junior middleweight Daquan Arnett (9-0, 6 KO) will face Mid-Atlantic prospect Brandon Quarles (9-0-1, 2 KO) of Virginia. Arnett, from Florida, is considered a legitimate prospect, and Quarles is being brought in as the "B-side" for this fight. Arnett has faced the better opposition and will be expected to win.
Randy Caballero (17-0, 9 KO) will also fight on the card.
