Ryan Burton at BoxingScene.com reports that negotiations are underway to match Lucas Matthysse with Hank Lundy on the Devon Alexander-Kell Brook undercard on January 19. Showtime will broadcast the event from the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles.
Matthysse (32-2, 30 KO) has two impressive wins on Showtime this year, stopping Humberto Soto in June, and then battering Olusegun Ajose in September. Lundy (22-2-1, 11 KO) last fought on July 27, dropping a decision to Raymundo Beltran on Friday Night Fights.
Lundy would be moving up from lightweight for the fight, and would be a pretty big underdog if the bout does get done. He's always game, though, and doesn't put on bad TV fights, ever. He'd come to fight Matthysse, and right now with Matthysse, it's about getting him TV wins, more exposure, and hopefully, setting him up to fight the Garcia-Judah winner sometime in the summer. That's the absolute best can be done for him right now, and it's nice to see that it is, in theory, on track.
