Floyd Mayweather apparently isn't in Las Vegas for the Pacquiao-Marquez IV festivities this weekend, as Fight Hype reports that he's training in Miami with prospect J'Leon Love, likely gearing up for his May 4 return to the ring.
Fight Hype even reports that Mayweather is doing some sparring, and not just working out in the gym. Love, a 5'10" right-handed middleweight with a 14-0 pro record, would indicate, as Ben Thompson says, that Mayweather is targeting Canelo Alvarez, rather than southpaw welterweight Robert Guerrero. That is, if you want to read much of anything into what Floyd is doing in the gym on December 7 for a May 4 fight. Which I am not and you really probably shouldn't, either.
Mayweather (43-0, 26 KO) last fought on May 5, beating Miguel Cotto by unanimous decision, before serving a short stint in jail. He says he's going to fight twice in 2013, on May 4 and September 14, but it would be the first time since 2007 that Mayweather took to the ring two times in one year, and the first time since 2002-03 that he fought twice in such a short span, with only a four-month turnaround.
