Today at 5 pm EST on WealthTV in the U.S. -- as well as streaming live on WealthTV.com -- and Channel 5 in the U.K., James DeGale makes a quick return to the ring for his second fight in two months under the Hennessy Sports banner, facing former world title challenger Fulgencio Zuniga.
We may not be able to fit both televised fights in -- or either of them, frankly -- but we will do our best, and here's a place to discuss the card either way. Our first focus will be on the Kessler-Magee and Barker-Hope card on Sky Sports, but we'll be here immediately after that ends.
DeGale (13-1, 9 KO) last fought on October 13, shaking off some rust and overcoming a tougher than expected challenge from France's Hadillah Mohoumadi in his Hennessy debut. DeGale was then set to face Kenny Anderson on this date, but Anderson pulled out and was replaced by Zuniga (25-6-1, 22 KO), a Colombian with some pop who has fallen short against his better opponents, but has been in the ring with Tavoris Cloud, Lucian Bute, Kelly Pavlik, and Daniel Santos, and most recently, Thomas Oosthuizen. Oosthuizen beat Zuniga on November 10, so he's also making a fast comeback.
In the co-feature, 22-year-old super bantamweight prospect Kid Galahad (12-0, 5 KO) will face Ivan Ruiz Morote (15-2, 7 KO). Don't be thrown off by the name or the fact that he seems arrogant or whatever -- Galahad has some legit potential in this division, which has become very strong in the UK. Right now, he'd rate only behind Scott Quigg, Carl Frampton, and veteran Rendall Munroe domestically, and those are all good fighters.
