Arroyo, 26, started the fight a bit tentatively, feeling out the 34-year-old Maldonado (36-8-1, 27 KO) in the first round, but after that it became pretty much one-way action. In the sixth round, Arroyo unloaded on Maldonado, opening a big gash under the Mexican's right eye and drilling him with power shots to the head and body.
It was supposed to be a step up, and it was -- Arroyo showed that he's a legit, real deal prospect, landing 223 of 627 total punches (36%), including 170 of 381 power punches (45%). Maldonado landed 85 of 552 total (15%), and 80 of 453 power punches (18%)
