When Manny Pacquiao was last in the ring against Juan Manuel Marquez, something did not exactly look right. Manny was tentative and was not able to unleash his signature combinations. Now Freddie Roach has come up with a couple of reasons to excuse Manny's less than stellar performance in an interview with BoxingScene.
"I think Manny got caught up with a lot of distractions and I think those distractions hurt his training a little bit and it finally caught up with him," Roach would add. "The last fight, you've got to give Marquez credit, because he knows how to fight Manny. He's fought him three times and I think every time they fight, it's going to be a close fight. I think Manny's going to win by a little bit each time."
"It's the first time that Manny's had a bad night in ten years," Roach continued. "He had some personal problems going into that fight and I'm glad that he cleaned his life up and got rid of all those problems and I can't wait to start training camp with him because he's going to be more focused than ever I feel."
Well now he has a new set of problems, which could be arguably worse than the problems going into his fight with Juan Manuel Marquez. Earlier this evening, I documented my concerns with Manny going into this fight with Tim Bradley. Bradley is going to make this a tough fight for Manny Pacquiao. I feel that Bradley will impose his style on the fight rather than Pacquiao and this will make it a very tough fight for Manny. Bradley will not a blown up lightweight who is 38, he is going to provide a serious challenge to the crown. Do you think Manny's current problems are better or worse than his problems going into the Marquez fight?
