Ryan Burton at BoxingScene.com reports that a Friday Night Fights main event between Kendall Holt and Josesito Lopez is being worked on for May 25, pitting a pair of quality junior welterweights in a virtual elimination bout to stay in the hunt at 140 pounds.
Holt (28-5, 16 KO) was in the FNF main event on March 16, obliterating Tim Coleman in two rounds, knocking his opponent down four times en route to an easy stoppage. That win followed a split decision loss to Danny Garcia last October.
Lopez (29-4, 17 KO) hasn't fought since his close loss last September to Jessie Vargas. The Goossen Tutor-promoted Lopez, 27, had been on a seven-fight win streak dating back to 2008.
If the fight does come through, it's a strong FNF main event and one of the types of fights the series is best built around. The winner would potentially be in line for a title shot, the loser back to the drawing board. It's not a big fight, but it's high stakes for both of them.
