In the televised opener on Showtime Extreme from El Paso, Luis Ramos Jr kicked off the Mares vs Morel card with a 10-round virtual shutout win over very faded veteran Daniel Attah, winning on scores of 100-89, 99-90, and 99-90.

Ramos (22-0, 9 KO) was workmanlike in the performance, very clearly winning the entire fight and having no trouble with Attah (26-10-1, 9 KO), who took the fight on short notice as he usually does. As usual, it's a bit tough to see Ramos, 23, becoming a true contender in the lightweight division. He is a solid, competent fighter, but that seems to be his ceiling. He's had it tougher than a lot of prospects do, but then he's never been a blue chip guy, either.

It's the second win this year on a Showtime broadcast for Ramos, who defeated Raymundo Beltran in a close battle on the January 6 edition of ShoBox. The loss is Attah's third in a row, and seventh in his last nine outings.

The Showtime Extreme portion of the card continues with Librado Andrade vs Rowland Bryant in the light heavyweight division coming up next. Join us for live coverage.
