Anselmo Moreno successfully defended his WBA bantamweight title tonight in El Paso, live on Showtime, dominating David De La Mora over eight rounds, scoring a pair of knockdowns, and forcing De La Mora to concede the fight after eight shutout rounds.
At the time of stoppage, the judges had it 80-70, 80-70, and 79-71 for Moreno. Bad Left Hook had it 80-70, as did Showtime's Chuck Giampa.

Moreno (33-1-1, 12 KO) put De La Mora down on a right hook to the head in the second round, and tried to close the show then and there, but De La Mora literally dropped his hands and ran around the ring repeatedly, making Moreno chase him. This happened over and over during the course of the fight, and in the eighth round, it might have been Moreno tiring of the tactic and nailing De La Mora twice while his hands were down that convinced De La Mora to quit. It was then that De La Mora couldn't even run away from Moreno anymore.

The second knockdown came in the sixth round, when a left hand to the solar plexus caused De La Mora (24-2, 17 KO) to take a knee.
The El Paso crowd rather relentlessly booed the fight, and continued that into booing Moreno when he was announced as the official winner after the bout. Let me say this: While Moreno is certainly not a thrilling fighter, he wasn't the guy jogging around the ring looking to avoid contact. De La Mora stopped taking risks after the second round. The fight was a bit dull at points, but it wasn't Moreno's doing.
