Three major fights in Las Vegas for May had their officials named this morning by the Nevada State Athletic Commission, including the May 5 showdown between Floyd Mayweather Jr and Miguel Cotto.

Tony Weeks will referee the Mayweather vs Cotto fight, and the judges will be Robert Hoyle, Dave Moretti, and Patricia Morse Jarman. All are very experienced judges who have had some bad cards along the way in their careers, because pretty much every experienced judge has. Weeks is one of the best referees in the sport and deserves the big fight assignments, so he's a perfect choice here.

Hoyle and Moretti recently worked the great Alvarado vs Herrera fight on April 14, with Moretti scoring it 96-94 for Alvarado and Hoyle a bit wide for most tastes at 99-91 for Alvarado, who definitely won the fight but perhaps not nine of ten rounds, at least to most. Jarman's most recent fight was the Katsidis vs Mensah brawl on April 13, scoring it 96-94 for Mensah.
