Frank Maloney, the promoter of David Price has told West London Sport that Audley Harrison is a possible opponent for his British & Commonwealth Champion Price.
Harrison made a winning return from a long break after his abysmal defeat to David Haye in November 2010 last Saturday when he defeated Ali Adams by TKO in Round four.
Since his win, Harrison has come forward to suggest he wants to fight Price for his British and Commonwealth belts. Although it might come as a surprise to some, Frank Maloney has confirmed the pair want to speak to Harrison and his representatives.
Maloney said:
"It's a fight we're interested in. We're looking to get in contact with him (Harrison). There are a number of options we're looking at and I can say that Audley is one of them."
Now of course as Maloney states, Harrison is just an option at this point. However, there just seems to be something in this fight and early rumours. Price will win this fight. I'm not even going to suggest there's another outcome even though I know how unpredictable boxing can be. For Audley this is more publicity to say 'YES I CAN'.
Price for me should be looking for bigger and better opponents, he's proving his class in each fight. One thing we need to see is Price's punch-taking ability. Can Audley ' not even one-punch a fight' Harrison land it? He showed power against Sprott but that was a few years ago now.
Maloney did say he would love Price to win the British belt outright before moving for European and then the World Titles. In fighting Harrison it's another half-decent name on his record and another fight down to keep the title for good. Like I said earlier it is just an option for now, but I've got no passion to see this fight. It would be a no contest in my opinion. I don't like to see a fighter hurt or damaged but Audley might finally need some sense knocking into him.
