After weighing in a half-pound over the junior middleweight limit at 154½ pounds earlier today in Las Vegas, 40-year-old WBC title challenger Sugar Shane Mosley went back to the scales an hour later and made the weight, meaning his fight with Canelo Alvarez is good to go, with Alvarez's green belt on the line as planned.
Canelo vs Mosley is the main undercard bout tomorrow on the Mayweather vs Cotto pay-per-view from the MGM Grand.
Mosley (46-7-1, 39 KO) is trying to revitalize a career that has gone from the penthouse to the (relative) outhouse over his last three fights, losses to Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao and an ugly draw with Sergio Mora. As far as name value, he's the toughest test to date for 21-year-old Alvarez (39-0-1, 29 KO), but it remains to be seen if he's got much left physically. to challenge the Mexican marketing phenom.
