Canelo Alvarez punished Shane Mosley tonight in the Mayweather vs Cotto PPV co-feature, nearly shutting out the 40-year-old veteran in a fight that became increasingly ugly as it went along, with Alvarez landing repeated brutal shots to the head and body. Bad Left Hook scored it a shutout, 120-108 for Canelo (40-0-1, 29 KO).
Mosley (46-8-1, 39 KO) was game tonight, and threw what he could, but if power is the last thing to go, it went for him tonight. Shane couldn't get Canelo to respect his power at all, and even when he landed hard, clean right hands, he couldn't budge the 21-year-old Mexican.
Alvarez landed 348 of 673 punches (52%), and 252 of 441 power shots (57%).

After the fight, Alvarez called out the winner of Mayweather vs Cotto, as well as Manny Pacquiao. Mosley gave all credit to Alvarez, but didn't answer Larry Merchant's question of whether or not this was it for him, but he sounded like he might be ready to hang it up. "When the kids start beating you up, it might be time to start promoting," he said.
"I gave it all I got," Mosley continued. "I made sure (Canelo) was worthy of being one of the next kings of the ring. What can I say? I got beat by a better man tonight.
