Today at 3:30 p.m. EDT on Sky Sports in the UK, Brian Rose will defend the British junior middleweight title against Kris Carslaw in the 12-round main event from Bowlers Exhibition Centre in Manchester.
Rose (19-1-1, 5 KO) won the belt from Prince Arron in December, and defended it successfully against Max Maxwell on March 31. Carslaw (15-1, 3 KO) has sort of backed his way in here, but isn't a massive underdog, really. He was upset by Matthew Hall in an eliminator bout two fights ago, which somehow led the BBBofC to schedule Hall for another eliminator with Sam Webb, which Webb won, and now Carslaw, despite only winning a tune-up since his loss, is in for a title shot.
Go figure.
The original co-feature this afternoon was supposed to be a rematch between Carl Johanneson and Chris Goodwin, but that was canceled when Goodwin fell ill yesterday morning, reportedly a kidney infection.
The new co-feature bout is a welterweight fight scheduled for eight rounds between Rick Godding (16-0, 2 KO) and James Flinn (10-2-1, 2 KO).
