After Friday's weigh-in, where Manny Pacquiao tipped the scales at a career-high 147 pounds for his welterweight title fight against Timothy Bradley, the challenger said he felt his opponent looked "tired," and that he could sense that Pacquiao wasn't quite right:
"He's worn out, tired, I can see it in his eyes, the wrinkles," said Bradley, a 5-1 underdog despite his unbeaten record of 28-0 with 12 knockouts. "This boy's not ready for me."
There are some who feel that Pacquiao didn't look to be in great condition yesterday, though just as many who aren't concerned about it at all. But word out of Vegas was that a lot of smart boxing folks took a look at Manny and felt he just didn't seem to be in great shape, physically for the most part, but some worry that his mental focus really is not there this time.
The weigh-in was interesting. The staredown was truncated as Bradley tried to give Manny a serious, intense glare, which led to Manny smiling at him, almost taken aback, then turning away and ending it all pretty quickly. Bradley was full of nervous energy in interviews after they were done on stage, but if he really feels that he saw something in Pacquiao that gives him an advantage tomorrow, part of that could have been excitement, too.
The best news is, we're close to finding out how this is going to play out in the ring. The upset talk is floating heavily the night before the fight.
