Ryan Maquinana and Ernest Gabion are both reporting on Twitter now that tonight's HBO Boxing After Dark main event between Adrien Broner and Vicente Escobedo is back on, after Team Escobedo earlier this afternoon officially walked away from negotiations. As I said then, there was still a chance the fight would happen with Haymon being Haymon. Apparently, Haymon Haymon'd enough.

Maquinana reported, "OK, I think it's on. Broner has weighed in at 148. Escobedo will make more than double the orig purse. ... Waiting to confirm."

Gabion said, "I guess money talks. 100s of K later we have a fight," adding that Broner won't have to stay at 148 pounds or anything like that.

It's not that big a surprise, really, and surely Escobedo was pushed by a lot of folks (Haymon, HBO, Golden Boy, his own team, his own brain) to take the fight. In the end, he may well have bluffed his way into a big payday and he can still win the WBO super featherweight title if he pulls the upset.
