BoxingScene.com reports that the August 11 fight between IBF light heavyweight titlist Tavoris Cloud and Jean Pascal will be postponed, with an official announcement coming tomorrow at a press conference. Pascal has reportedly suffered a hand injury in training. The new date would be October 13, still on Showtime.
I can tell you that a conference call for media today was canceled, so this would add up.
Cloud (24-0, 19 KO) and Pascal (26-2-1, 16 KO) were set to meet at the Bell Centre in Montreal, with Adonis Stevenson facing Don George in the co-featured bout. It was a good card, and was set to be probably the biggest show of August for most fans. The month, which is slow in the pro ranks due to the Olympics, will now be centered mostly around Stieglitz vs Abraham on August 25 in Germany, and Wilfredo Vazquez Jr vs Rafael Marquez in Puerto Rico on August 4.
We'll have more on the fight when something official is released, but expect the postponement soon.
